Advantages of Using IPV6

Efficient Routing

IPv6 reduces the size of routing tables and makes routing more efficient and hierarchical. In IPv6 networks, fragmentation is handled by the source device, rather than a router, using a protocol for discovery of the path’s maximum transmission unit.

Directed Data Flows

IPv6 supports multicast rather than broadcast. Multicast allows bandwidth-intensive packet flows to be sent to multiple destinations simultaneously, saving network bandwidth.

More efficient packet processing

Compared with the IPv4, IPv6 contains no IP-level checksum, so the checksum does not need to be recalculated at every router hop.

Simplified Network

IPv6 devices can independently auto-configure themselves when connected to other IPv6 devices. Configuration tasks that can be carried out automatically include IP address assignment and device numbering.

Efficient Network

IPv6 reduces the size of routing tables and makes routing more efficient and hierarchical. In IPv6 networks, fragmentation is handled by the source device, rather than a router, using a protocol for discovery of the path’s maximum transmission unit.

Security

IPSec security, which provides confidentiality, authentication, and data integrity, is engraved into IPv6.

Questions and Answers about Dedicated IPV6 Servers

How long does it take to deploy your IPV6 Dedicated Server?

Depending on the selected resources for your dedicated Server, our delivery time varies on hardware along with any customization included. Our goal is to get every customer’s order fulfilled within 2-4 hrs as long as there are no delay with getting the order verified against Fraud. While we are able to get your server deployed faster, please understand that IP announcement and routing are fully dependent on the ISP of choice.

Do you have any ISP IPV6 you could allocate to our server while we wait for announcement to be completed?

Absolutely. Every server benfits from a free set of IPV6  /64 subnet.  Our primary goal is to provide the server ordered as we are not an IP space provider and we are unable to allocate IP Space higher than /64. We are happy to get your LOA and IPs submitted for announcement.

Is IPV6 Dedicated Server for anyone or Should we choose with caution?

While IPv6 is highly beneficial and recommended for many entities, the actual adoption can vary. Some smaller networks or individual users may continue to operate on IPv4 for the time being, especially if their specific addressing needs are met. However, as IPv6 adoption continues to be a global initiative, more and more entities are expected to transition to IPv6 to ensure the continued smooth functioning of the internet.

With that being said, it’s important to note the following disadvantages of using IPV6:

  1. Transition Complexity:
    • The transition from IPv4 to IPv6 can be complex and challenging. Many networks and systems are still IPv4-dependent, and the coexistence of both protocols during the transition phase may require careful planning and implementation.
  2. Compatibility Issues:
    • Some legacy systems, applications, and network devices may not be fully compatible with IPv6. Ensuring seamless communication between IPv4 and IPv6 devices may require additional technologies such as dual-stack configurations or translation mechanisms.
  3. Infrastructure Costs:
    • Upgrading network infrastructure to support IPv6 can be costly. This includes upgrading routers, switches, and other networking equipment. Small businesses and organizations with limited resources may find this investment challenging.
  4. Address Management:
    • While IPv6 addresses offer a vast number of unique identifiers, managing such a large address space can be challenging. Proper address planning and management practices are essential to avoid inefficiencies and ensure security.
  5. Security Concerns:
    • While IPv6 includes security features, the expanded address space and the complexity of IPv6 networks may introduce new security challenges. Organizations need to implement security best practices and ensure that their network infrastructure is IPv6-aware.
  6. Limited IPv6 Content:
    • While the number of IPv6-enabled websites and services is growing, there may still be cases where certain content or services are only available over IPv4. This can impact users who rely solely on IPv6 connectivity.
  7. Education and Training:
    • Network administrators and IT professionals may need training to understand and manage IPv6 effectively. The lack of expertise in IPv6 can be a barrier to its adoption, particularly in smaller organizations with limited IT resources.
  8. IPv6-Related Bugs and Issues:
    • As IPv6 adoption increases, software and hardware vendors may encounter and resolve bugs or issues related to IPv6 implementation. Early adopters may need to stay vigilant for updates and patches to address any emerging problems.
  9. Limited NAT Benefits:
    • Network Address Translation (NAT), commonly used in IPv4, provides a level of security and conservation of IPv4 addresses. In IPv6, the vast address space reduces the need for NAT, but some organizations may have relied on NAT for security purposes in the past.
  10. Internet Service Provider Support:
    • Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) may not fully support IPv6 or may offer limited IPv6 connectivity options. Organizations and end-users relying on their ISPs for IPv6 connectivity may face limitations if IPv6 support is not widely available.
